Ruthie Timm's PledgePage
A few weeks ago, I joined The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s “Team in Training” program. As a member of this voluntary program, I am training to run a marathon. In return, I am raising funds to help find a cure for cancers of the blood. My participation in this program is to honor my Mom who continues to fight Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, and also for a good friend, (and previous boss) Curt Grinnell, who recently was diagnosed with Lymphoma. The challenge seems daunting, running 26.2 miles! But when all is said and done, it’s really nothing compared to the challenges they have faced, not to mention countless others who have battled one form of cancer or another. The most recent statistics indicate that every 5 minutes someone in the United States learns that they have been diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma or Hodgkin’s disease! By giving to the Society, not only will you be helping me in my efforts to honor my Mom and friend, you’ll be helping many others benefit from the support and research your donation will help to provide.
As a participant of this program, I have agreed to raise $4200.00 to help fight Leukemia and Lymphoma. This money will be used for patient aid and to fund research aimed at finding a cause and cure for Leukemia and its related cancers, such as lymphoma, myeloma and Hodgkin’s disease. I will be running the “Mayor’s Midnight Marathon” in Anchorage, Alaska on June 22, 2002. I’m half way there to meeting my goal but still have a ways to go. A minimum of 75% of your contribution goes directly into research and family support. Enclosed is a pledge card with a return envelope. Your donation is tax-deductible. It would mean so much if you could help me to reach my goal. Your support is TRULY APPRECIATED. Sincerely, Ruth Timm |
